SURVIVING SINGLE PARENTHOOD

In this session, we will examine social and parenting skills for use in any household and within any family structure. Explore different ways to empower parents to serve as leaders and role models for their children from infancy into adulthood. Our youth need positive direction. Our parents need simple solutions. Join us for a powerful presentation on how to provide both.
FATHERS: RAISING GOOD WOMEN
Information that every father should know. Review the long-term effects which strong males have on the outcome of women. Benefit from information on developing strong and nurturing father-daughter relationships. Current research, inspirational stories and practice opportunities for skill-building are part of the session design. Participate in reinforcing activities and open discussion. Reflect on the relationships with the daughters and young women in your life. Leave feeling prepared to face the challenge of raising a woman!
MOTHERS: RAISING GOOD MEN
This session focuses on the best ways to raise young boys. Work on topics related to discipline, education, respect, and puberty. Avoid most of the stress and the difficulty of raising boys as they become independent men. Learn step-by-step how to work through bad grades, bad manners, truancy, disrespect, and delinquency while remaining in control. Complete a parenting skills inventory to examine strengths and limitations in your parenting style. If you are strong enough to bear them then you should be strong enough to complete this session.

CHILD SUPPORT AND CUSTODY
Imagine what life would be like in our community if it were full of positive male role models. This session will create the opportunity to look through the eyes of a father. Examine the role court plays in the family dynamic. Understand the role and responsibility of fatherhood and how it affects our children, our families, our community, and our world. Discuss how custody has affected male parenting, child development, and school support.
THE BUSY PARENT, JUGGLING HOME, CHILDREN, SPOUSE AND WORK
This session will provide Fathers and Parents the opportunity to understand the relationship between balancing work and family life and responsibilities.
This workshop uses handouts to help parents work out
a quality time schedule with children and family in mind. At the end of this workshop fathers and parents will learn the importance of parenthood, utilizing technology, and arranging schedules to comfortably include children.
DRAMA:
HANDLING THE BARRIERS
Parents, Grandparents, Social workers, School officials, and Caregivers are invited to this event.
This event exposes the true victims behind the miscommunication between the genders. Our children and our community suffer because of our barriers. We investigate the cause and effect of the situations our children are in. We will use open discussion and group sessions to explore a resolution to the drama.

Fatherhood is the ability to contribute to the overall positive health and wellbeing of his children and family. We will capitalize on his knowledge of the unique contributions he brings to raising his children.
We will also talk about the parenting differences between “fathering” and “mothering.” We will break down the family dynamic and the important role each parent plays.
We will build fathers skill levels, parenting skills, nurturing skills, and child rearing involvement.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND ENGAGEMENT
There are several sources of information pertaining to how parenthood may or may not affect the development of a child.
During this session we will unravel how parental involvement benefits the school, the community,
and the family. Learn what is meant by the “family Dynamic” and the impact it has. Learn how to muddle through the statistics and develop parental involvement into a practicum. Leave knowing you are ready to empower your community one father, one mother,
and one child at a time.
ELIMINATING/DECREASING CHILD ABUSE 101 & 102
Child abuse is one of the most detrimental and dysfunctional illnesses of any culture or society. This session explores how fatherhood groups, parenting practitioners and family organizations can address the prevention of child abuse through promoting responsible fatherhood and creating effective fatherhood programs. Participants will define the types of child abuse and then will explore causes and effects using examples in our communities. Examine how father inclusion impacts child abuse in our community. Discuss topics seldom addressed in group settings or standard curriculum.
MAKING A FATHERHOOD FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT
This session will highlight the positive outcomes a fatherhood friendly environment can bring to your agency and to the community.
Understand how this “friendly” environment can increase parenting enrollment and stimulate child development.
Learn how to start and sustain a Father Group. Identify how to create a comfortable and inviting environment for fathers.
Explore child development in comparison to the environment of your family, center, and agency and have fun doing it!
PARENTING ROLES & THE FAMILY DYNAMIC 101
What defines a family? Who defines the family dynamic? What roles contribute to nurturing a strong, cohesive family unit? Examine discussions of gender, roles, and responsibilities regarding family structure, nurturing and support.
Dissect issues related to relationships and how to stimulate participation of both parents to create balance and harmony.
RUNNING AND SUSTAINING PARENTING GROUPS
In this workshop we will use handouts to create marketing and outreach plan. Most Non-profits and agencies use very little marketing to attract potential parents for group activities. We will go over very basic marketing, outreach, and incentive plans to sustain and increase participation. Participants will receive useful advertising plans which will require little to no money from the agency or grant.
