Doulas 4 Dads Mission
As the first all-male doula program specifically designed to assist fathers and families, our postpartum doulas program educates fathers on newborn care, nurturing, development, health and more. Now, with the help of The Foundation for Delaware County start-up grant, The School of Parent Education and Daddy University Inc. have created a one of a kind doula program that is specifically designated to assist, encourage, support, de-stress, maintain, and educate “both” parents in Maternal and Paternal care. We believe that Infant, Maternal, and Paternal health is everyone’s responsibility.
About Postpartum Doulas
A doula is typically a woman with formal training that assists the mother through childbirth and newborn care.
Often, the father does not receive this form of education because normally they focus on
the mother. As described by the American Pregnancy Association, a postpartum doula specifically provides and tailors educational information to the parental figure on infant feeding, recovery from birth, baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. This service is tailored to each father and family based upon their unique needs and may include working from a few days up to a few months based upon what the family requires.
What We Provide
To ensure that our postpartum doulas are prepared to help our mothers and fathers, we pay for their Postpartum Doula training session so that they are equipped with all of the information necessary. This training will take place over an attentive weekend ( training on Saturday and Sunday which will entail infant, toddle, and maternal health care. As of recent events, all training will be provided virtually to our doulas. In addition to training, we will also provide them with all supplies and materials.
Upon the completion of their training, we will award certifications to establish them as qualified postpartum doulas. Once certified, our doulas will become members of CAPPA International. After they have completed training and certification with us, they will be able to work in the field. The next step would include working towards official certification, which they have two years to complete. The benefit of this
next level of certification is that they will be able to work with a greater range of clients. With this, our doulas will be paid per hour via our client based on the father and family needs. In order to become certified in our doula program, it must be noted that voluntary time may be necessary.
What You Receive
By joining Daddy University Inc. and The School of Parent Education as a doula in our Doula 4 Dads program, you will receive a paid membership to CAAPA International, including required textbooks and administrative fees that come with the membership.
A fraternity, traditionally, is a group of people with common interests and professions that create a friendship of support between one another.
This is the goal for Alpha Delta Alpha.
Alpha represents both a beginning and leadership, while Delta represents difference.
All three of these are strong representations of what both Daddy University Inc. and Delta Alpha Delta stand for. Delta Alpha Delta is dedicated to creating lifelong brotherhood for fathers so that they have a space filled with those who are ready to lead the way to be great fathers as well as having others who understand what it means to be a father. Through leadership, diversity, and brotherhood, we ask our members to pledge to stand for these values in the name of fatherhood. We ask our members to be leaders for their children and other fathers, to demonstrate diversity in their thoughts and actions, and support the brotherhood that is established between fathers on the common ground of being their best for their children.
